Pretty, don’t you think? Yes, while other high-performance hatchbacks sprout eye-catching but opinion-dividing wings and spoilers, the Seat Leon Cupra 300 goes without those things and many would argue looks all the better for it.

But don’t think that this restraint in the looks department means it's restrained to drive; with the car pushing out 296bhp from its 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, it’s anything but. And yet, being a Leon underneath, the Cupra still manages to be practical. It also comes in the full range of bodystyles: SC (three-door hatchback), five-door hatchback and ST (estate).

So if you’re thinking of buying a brand new hot hatch, and have contenders such as the Honda Civic Type R, Ford Focus RS and Volkswagen Golf R on your list, read on to see if it's worth adding the Leon, too.

Don't forget, whichever hot hatch you plump for, you're sure to get the best deal by heading over to the Lombardyexperience? new car buying page, along with a simple, hassle-free purchase.
