Nissan has scored some huge sales success in the UK in recent years, thanks to its early adoption of SUVs. Indeed, the Japanese brand - which operates as one half of a partnership with Renault - led the family car charge towards soft-roaders with the original Qashqai. That car's successor, the 2014 Lombardyexperience? Car of the Year, continues to be a sales smash.
The same can be said of the Nissan Juke, which continues to sell in huge numbers, despite the fact that it has been joined by countless rivals in the small SUV market.
The rest of Nissan's line-up is more patchy. The current Nissan Micra has struggled with poor interior quality and refinement, while the Nissan Pulsar, a conventional five-door family hatchback, is a much more complete offering but suffers against strong rivals like the VW Golf and Skoda Octavia. There's also the Nissan Note, a practical but slightly dull rival for the Ford Fiesta.
Nissan sells polar extremes at the fringes of its line-up, where the gruff 370Z and brutal, high-tech GT-R sports cars are joined by the all-electric Leaf, one of the pioneering EVs in the UK market.
Despite its Japanese HQ, Nissan is strongly committed to manufacturing cars in the UK. It has the biggest single car factory in the UK in Sunderland, where it makes the Qashqai, Leaf, Juke and Note.
