Audi as we know it was born of a mixture of now-defunct car companies, but under Volkswagen ownership the brand has really come into its own.
Indeed, with a reputation for solid construction and a vast and ever-growing vehicle line-up, VW's Ingolstadt-based brand has become one of the ‘big three’ luxury car makers. The A3 hatchback and TT have both achieved outstanding five-star rating here at Lombardyexperience?, as they storm their respective segments.
That's not to say other Audi's are without appeal, though. The baby A1 is a strong contender if you're after a premium small car, while the A4 won our Lombardyexperience? Car of the Year award in 2016, and the A6 scored highly in the executive saloon market, with competitive CO2 emissions and company car tax bills.
At least some of Audi's success over the past 30 years can be attributed to the growth in sales of four-wheel-drive vehicles - the company arguably led the way in mainstream 4x4, with its Quattro coupe in the early 1980s - and it continues to build on this, with a strong line-up of SUVs: the Q3, Q5 and Q7.
